2020, European Journal of Integrative MedicineCitation Excerpt :Based on these characteristics, Tai Ji is generally classified as a low-to-medium intensity exercise, which is a potentially suitable for trainees in a wide range of ages and levels of physical fitness, and has become increasingly popular in western countries in recent years not only as a physical activity, but also as a means of therapy [10,11]. Tai Ji shows many benefits in improving health-related fitness [12], lower limb muscle strength [13], flexibility and cardiopulmonary function [14]. As a part of traditional medicine of China [15], Qigong combines meditation, slow physical activity and breathing regulation, harmonizing the body, mind as well as spirit [16-18], and aims to maintain physical and mental health, control symptoms, and promote rehabilitation [19-20].
