In the paper “Mechanical Insufflation-Exsufflation for Airway Mucus Clearance” by Douglas N Homnick (Respir Care 2007;52[10]:1296–1305), the labeling in Figure 6 was erroneously reversed.

Please see the correct figure below.

We regret the error.

Kaplan-Meier curve of survival among subjects with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The protocol subjects were treated with an oximetry-driven protocol that included noninvasive positive-pressure ventilation and insufflation-exsufflation. (Data from Reference 43.)

In the paper “Predicted Postoperative Product and Diffusion Heterogeneity Index in the Evaluation of Candidates for Lung Resection” by Jeng-Shing Wang, Raja T Abboud, and Brian L Graham (Respir Care 2011;56[4]:449–455), the authors have indicated that there were errors in the Abstract and in the last paragraph in the Results.

In the Abstract the statement that reads “Interestingly, diffusion heterogeneity index increased with exercise in all patients with complications but decreased with exercise in all patients without complications,” should state “Interestingly, diffusion heterogeneity index increased with exercise in patients with complications but decreased with exercise in patients without complications.”

In the Results, please see the original and the corrected paragraph below.

“When the change in diffusion heterogeneity index was analyzed as a categorical variable, such that an increase in diffusion heterogeneity index with exercise was classified as a negative result and a decrease in diffusion heterogeneity index with exercise was classified as a positive result, then the sensitivity and specificity were both 100%, since all patients with postoperative complications had a positive preoperative tests, and all patients without complications had a negative preoperative test.”

The above paragraph should have stated:

“When the change in diffusion heterogeneity index was analyzed as a categorical variable, such that an increase in diffusion heterogeneity index with exercise was classified as a negative result and a decrease in diffusion heterogeneity index with exercise was classified as a positive result, then the sensitivity was 78% and the specificity was 74%.”

We regret the errors.
