2020, World NeurosurgeryCitation Excerpt :Several well-known advantages of GA-SAD can be translated in the context of EMT. GA-SAD placement does not affect cerebral hemodynamics3 and has a low risk of gastric content aspiration4 when compared with endotracheal intubation and results in lower stress response and pain: less intraoperative analgesic requirements and no curare administration may contribute to a faster recovery. A summary of proposed advantages and disadvantages of the 3 techniques is reported in Table 1.
