    • Association between hypertension, oral microbiome and salivary nitric oxide: A case-control study

2021, Nitric Oxide - Biology and Chemistry
      Citation Excerpt :

The Griess reaction is based on the two-step diazotization reaction in which acidified NO2− produces a nitrosating agent, which reacts with sulfonic acid to produce the diazonium ion. This ion is then coupled to N-(1-naphthyl) ethylenediamine to form the chromophoric azo-derivative which absorbs light at 540 nm [28,29] and then read by ELISA reader. Genomic DNA extraction from the specimens was performed using a PureLink™ Genomic DNA Mini Kit (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, California, USA) according to the manufacturer's instructions with some modifications.

Thus, the NO release from the complex 1 is accompanied by the HbNO formation, recorded with spectrophotometer. All reactions with complex 1 were carried out under argon because NO rapidly reacts with O2 to give nitrogen oxides (the rate constant is 2⋅106 M−2 s−1) [18]. Fig. 2 shows the absorption spectra of the experimental system.

    • Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase is required for parasite restriction and inflammatory modulation during Neospora caninum infection

The Griess Reaction is based on the two-step diazotization reaction in which acidified NO2− produces a nitrosating agent, which reacts with sulfanilic acid to produce the diazonium ion. This ion is then coupled to N-(1-naphthyl) ethylenediamine to form the chromophoric azo-derivative which absorbs light at 540−570 nm (Miles et al., 1996). CNS samples of WT and iNOS−/− mice were obtained after 30 dpi, fixed in phosphate-buffered formaldehyde solution (4 %) and posteriorly embedded in paraffin, sectioned (5 μm), mounted on glass slides and subjected to standard staining procedure in hematoxylin-eosin (H&E).
